More than three-fifths of Czechs admit they have met with corruption, it ensues from a fresh online poll by the SANEP agency, according to which a bribe has ever been offered to 38 percent of Czechs while one-fifth of Czechs have accepted a bribe.
Even doctors, state officials and policemen among the respondents have admitted witnessing corruption.
Less than one-third of those polled, mainly entrepreneurs and well-off people, confessed to having offered a bribe.
Sensitive topic
The poll showed that corruption is a sensitive topic. People are reluctant to admit corruption even in anonymous surveys.
“It is thus very probable that the corruption rate in Czech society is far higher,” SANEP spokesman Oldrich Zajic said for CTK.
The poll was conducted on 12,330 respondents aged from 18 to 68 on October 1-5.
